Dove Delivers with New Conditioner

Dove Nutritive Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner

My gym periodically gives free samples of things to its members. I always feel awkrad snatching a bunch of free goods, but my boyfriend has no problem helping himself. I came home the other day to find two samples of Dove Nutritive Therapy Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner on our kitchen table.

At first I was skeptical. Yes, Dove makes good soap and body wash, but hair products?

The conditioners I generally use. A hair mask from Pantene, and Brazillian Keratin Conditioner from Organix

I have naturally curly hair, which I generally flat iron on a daily basis. I use my fair share of hair serums, straightening creams, end sealer, and gloss. I don’t believe you have to pay a ton for good hair care products, but once again, Dove? For my hair??

Since I was due for a wash (I wash my hair every 3 days when curly, and once a week when I straighten it), I decided I should give the new product a go. It promised to keep my hair frizz free, condition 3x’s the amount of regular conditioner, and basically be the business of hair products.

The first thing I noticed when I opened up the sample was that the conditioned was super thick-we’re talking close to body butter thick. It also was two colors (white and yellow). According to the Dove site, the white part is to seal the cuticles, lock in nutrients, and nix  frizz. The gold creme has the nutri-oils, and helps to give back essential nutrients without making hair greasy.

Couldn't really get my cell phone to pick up the gold and white, but it's there!

I used about two quarter size squeezes and worked it into my hair. I have a lot of hair, but it’s thin, which I generally notice when I’m washing it. While I was using the product I instantly noticed that my hair actually felt thicker, as if the conditioner was coating it with something to make my hair feel more sturdy. As instructed, I left the conditioner in my hair for 1 minute (or maybe 3-the amount of time it takes to shave my legs).

When I rinsed it out, I still felt like my hair was covered with something, yet it also felt clean and soft. I know, I know, how can that be? Let me put it another way. My hair didn’t feel naked. It really did feel like it had moisture, and weight to it (which is the key to keeping frizz at bay). But, it also felt super clean.

Since I live on the east coast and it’s winter (not really frizz season), I can’t know for sure how the product would do in hotter seasons. However, I was really very surprised once I styled it. My hair was shiny, had great body (with little use of extra product), and no fly aways!!! Even my boyfriend seemed to notice, taking the time (unprompted by me) to touch it and say how soft it felt. Verdict? I’ll be picking up a full size container of the stuff. I really am that happy with its performance!

My hair looks pretty good for someone who hasn't cut it in 5 years!! No Joke!
